Su Yu Hsin is a Berlin-based Taiwanese artist and filmmaker. Her crew members are Yu-ro Huang and Chloe Huang. They visited b minor Arizona in December 2024 to film her project Where Clouds Once Formed 2025.

Su Yu Hsin’s research during the b minor residency focused on the history of water infrastructures, comparing historical maps of the Salt River with satellite imagery to reveal its shrinking riverbed. Each day began with the forested view along the Verde River, grounding her work in the landscape. This prompted her to explore how water carries environmental memory and how restoration practices must extend beyond technological solutions. She also uncovered connections between the Orme Dam project and the development of Fountain Hills, while cultural exchanges with Clissene Lewis highlighted parallels between Yavapai struggles and Taiwan’s colonial history, as well as the endangered state of the Gila River. These encounters deepened her understanding of water, land, and cultural resilience, reinforcing her commitment to return for further research.
