Somely So Lai Ping and Hsu Wai Lun (mmmmor.com) are Dusseldorf-based book artists from Hong Kong.

Up in the Mountain, Down in the Desert, by Somely SoLai Ping, is a book Somely made during the her first time visiting the United States where she stayed in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Through tracing red rocks, pink stone and golden sands, Somely also traces the histories and people connected to the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.

Seeking Shade in the Desert by Hsu Wai Lun, is a leporello photobook compiled from the photos taken during his residency. The photos are the accumulation of the experiences and impressions he gathered over two months in the Sonoran Desert. Some moments appear in images, others don’t. While seeing shade in the desert, Lun is also seeking shade in history: seeking the forgotten memories and underexposed narratives that haunt this landscape. These shades remind us that the past/history is not absent but obscured. To seek shade is to acknowledge our vulnerability. b minor is collaborating with Somely and Lun to publish these book projects in 2026 and 2027.
