Night The mountain peaks, the lower depths--all sleep! The jutting headland rocks and rushing stream. within the clotted earth curl up the sluggish weasel and the snake. On rocks above, the goats recline, and soundless in the hive the labored bee. All creatures sleep within the sea. The birds have dropped their proud extended wings. (Alcman) |
